MEET: Monyca Byrne-Wickey
1) Hello Monyca! Many thanks for doing this. First things first…please tell the readers a little bit about what you do right now and where you live. I am a professional surfer/ model and i live on Maui.
2) You are in great, healthy shape! What kinds of foods do you eat? I feel bad admitting it but im one of the lucky ones, very fast metabolism, but i do keep it pretty healthy I just dont limit my carbs because I do the work to burn them off. In the morning I’ll start off with an all fruit smoothie, and then eat eggs and toast. For lunch I eat anything like a salmon burger with tomatoes to chili and rice, or leftovers. in between lunch and dinner i usually eat chips and hummus, I love hummus! For dinner, I’ll make stir fried veggies and rice with tofu, or spaghetti Bolognese, or tacos and burritos with a salad.
3) So what you do for exercise? Surfing is my exercise. I surf at least 2 hours a day and my home break is a beach break so there is a lot of paddling! I also play basketball in the afternoons a lot or go swimming.
4) What do you like to do for fun? I am always at the beach, either surfing, cruising with friends or swimming.
5) What is your favorite post surf meal? Avocado, tomato, vegenaise, cheddar cheese sandwich with spike and braggs!
6) What are some of your favorite hangouts back home? I love italian food, so italian restaurants are my favorite. I also love flat-bread pizza.
7) Describe a typical daily outfit we can find you in. What is your favorite swimsuit brand? I like sundresses. there pretty, easy to put together and comfortable. I sew my own bikinis because i always had a hard time finding the perfect fit. Now I’ve nailed it! haha
8) What kind of advice can you give to those who are learning to surf and just starting out? Wear sunscreen! always! Also make sure your riding the right size board, it can be very frustrating trying to learn if you have the wrong equipment.
9) Other than surfing, what are some other activities/sports that you like to do? Swimming, Basketball, tennis, and hula. -
